How do I track a DHL package in Canada?
Your tracking number is in the online store’s confirmation email. It combines numbers and sometimes letters. Enter it on the dhl.com tracking page.
Where to enter your DHL tracking number
Go to the DHL Canada tracking page. According to DHL, the first tracking event usually appears 24 to 48 hours after you receive the number.
What DHL Express tracking messages mean
- Custom status updated: customs clearance at the destination is in progress. “Further details (+)” shows whether customs needs more information.
- A message asking you to contact DHL: information is missing, often because the address is wrong.
- A different city than yours: that is the service station handling the delivery. Your package is still going to your address.

Why is DHL asking me to pay to receive my package?
These charges cover duties, taxes and customs clearance for a package coming from outside Canada. The receiver pays them, unless the shipper chose to cover them. DHL Express (Canada) pays customs on your behalf and generally can’t deliver until you pay. The rules are explained by the Canada Border Services Agency.
How do I pay my DHL brokerage invoice?
Online, through the link DHL sends by text or email: credit card, debit card, Interac or PayPal. You can also pay by credit card or Interac when you pick up the package at your DHL service centre.
I think I was charged the wrong duties or taxes. What can I do?
DHL provides refund request forms online, in its duties and taxes FAQ. Your invoice and customs declaration can be downloaded up to 21 days after delivery.
Why isn’t my DHL tracking number working?
It needs at least 5 characters and no special characters. A comma, space or semicolon separates several numbers. If it still doesn’t work, contact the online store.
I got a text that claims to be from DHL Express. How can I check it?
DHL Express sends texts from the short code 22345. When in doubt, delete the message without opening it and report it to phishing-dpdhl@dhl.com.
